Parish Coordination

Working with your parish priest

We can try to liaise directly with your family's parish priest, or a priest of your choosing, to schedule the wake rosary, Requiem Mass and final commendation around your church's availability. Where families are not currently attached to a parish, we can help make an introduction to a church community near the wake venue. There might however be instances where churches require family members to contact them directly.

As with any service involving your family's faith, we'd encourage you to speak directly with your parish about liturgical preferences — hymn choices, readings and Mass timing are ultimately the parish's to guide, and we simply build our logistics around them.

The Rites

What happens during the wake

Catholic funeral rites follow a familiar order across the wake. Here is what our families can typically expect:

  • 1

Vigil & visitation. Family and friends visit the wake to pay their respects and offer condolences.

  • 2

Nightly rosary. The rosary is recited each night of the wake, often led by family, parish lay ministers or a legion of Mary group.

  • 3

Requiem Mass. A funeral Mass is offered for the deceased, usually at the family's parish church on the final day which is dependent on the deceased's residential address.

  • 4

Final commendation. A closing rite of farewell is prayed before the body departs the church for the cemetery or crematorium.

  • 5

Committal. A short committal prayer is said at the graveside or crematorium before the family returns to the wake venue.

Why Choose Us

Why families choose Farewell Funerals

Package prices across Singapore funeral providers tend to sit in a similar range — so price alone rarely tells you who's right for your family. What matters more is the funeral director guiding you through it: someone you feel comfortable with, who explains each step clearly and is reachable when you need them. We'd encourage you to speak with a few providers before deciding — including a free, no-obligation discovery call with us, so you can find out more and see if we're the right fit.

  • Dedicated & experienced

Our team of funeral directors manage your arrangement personally from the first call through to the final commendation — you're never passed between unfamiliar staff.

  • Premium Mercedes limousine hearse

Our specialty — a premium Mercedes limousine hearse is included in every package at no additional cost, where many providers charge extra for this upgrade.

  • Transparent, all-inclusive pricing

The price we quote is the price you pay — $3,380 at home or parlour, or $4,380 at a void deck, covers parish coordination, wake rosary, Requiem Mass logistics, cortege and hearse, with no hidden fees added on the day.

  • Rapid response, 24/7

We're reachable any hour of the day and can usually be at your side within about an hour of your call.

What To Expect

A typical timeline

Every case is different, but here's an honest picture of timing, based on how our arrangements usually run:

Response time

If traffic is clear, we can usually arrive at the place of passing within about an hour to assist your family. During peak-hour traffic this may take a little longer — please bear with us, as our team is doing everything possible to reach you quickly.

Embalming

After body collection, embalming typically takes a minimum of three hours, depending on the size of the body and how it responds to the process, before the body is sent back to the wake venue — provided the tentage has already been set up.

Wake & rosary nights

The wake typically runs over several nights, with the rosary recited each evening — the exact length is arranged around your parish's and family's schedule. Typically each prayer service is about one hour. We have a dedicated Roman Catholic funeral minister on our team to assist you if you are looking for a prayer group.

Requiem Mass & committal

The final day includes the Requiem Mass, final commendation, and committal at the cemetery or crematorium, before family members return to the wake venue. The whole process takes about 3.5 to 4 hours.

Common Questions

Catholic funeral FAQs

How much does a Catholic funeral cost in Singapore with Farewell Funerals?

Our Catholic funeral package is priced at $3,380 when held at home or a funeral parlour, or $4,380 at a void deck, all-inclusive, covering parish priest coordination, wake rosary, Requiem Mass, final commendation, cortege and hearse arrangements, with no hidden fees. A lower-cost direct cremation option is also available at $1,380.

Do you coordinate with our parish priest?

Yes, we liaise directly with your family's parish priest or a priest of your choosing to schedule the wake rosary, Requiem Mass and final commendation around your church's availability. However, in the event that the church prefers to liaise with the family members directly, then we will leave the liaison to be between family and church.

What happens during a Catholic wake?

Typically, the rosary is recited each night of the wake, often led by family, parish lay ministers or a legion of Mary group, with a vigil service and visitation for family and friends to pay respects.

What is a Requiem Mass and how long does it take?

A Requiem Mass is the funeral Mass offered for the deceased, usually held at the family's parish church on the final day, followed by the final commendation and farewell before the cortege departs. The mass is roughly an hour and it is when family members share eulogies.

Does the Catholic Church allow cremation as well as burial?

Yes, the Catholic Church permits cremation as well as burial, and we coordinate either arrangement according to your family's wishes and your parish's guidance. However, it is true that in the past, burial was the only allowed method of body disposal for Catholics.

How quickly can you respond after a death in the family?

In normal traffic conditions we can usually reach the place of passing within about an hour. During peak-hour traffic this may take slightly longer, though our team moves as quickly as possible.

How long does embalming take?

Embalming typically takes a minimum of three hours, depending on the size of the body and how it responds to the process, before the body is returned to the wake venue — provided the tentage has already been set up.
